Networking by listening

A musical metaphor

Johann Wuestenberg, partner of the Association of Organization Development (AOO) and conductor Johan Boonekamp, also manager of the Arts Centre TOON, are working together in 'musical' training and workshops for the profit and non for profit sector, starting from the 2011-2012 season. With workshops and trainings as 'Networking by listening', 'Creative leadership' and 'Conductor of your organization', Johann Wuestenberg as trainer and consultant and Johan Boonekamp in his role as conductor and leader of a creative organization, connect their expertise by using an orchestra as living and active responding metaphor for an organization or network. They offer employees of medium to large organizations the possibility to work in an interactive way. The workshops have a powerful and innovative formula where participants are invited, friendly provoked and inspired, to learn in an active way. Exactly in a time of searching for new opportunities and possibilities they want to share this developed expertise with different organizations.
An example of one of these workshops is 'Networking by listening':
In a society that is becoming more complex it is increasingly difficult for the organizations, divided into columns, to tackle questions in an integral way. These questions go beyond the boundaries of departments, boards and organizations more often. Therefore it requires the file holder and manager working beyond those boundaries within and outside their own office. His place in the hierarchy is becoming less decisive. Also knowing how you as an employee of an organization can find your way and your position, is becoming increasingly important.
That requires quite a bit. It asks not only motivation, but also that the employee must be able to fulfill that role to the outside world, working in networks within the company and beyond, and using the right instruments. The workshop 'Networking by listening' with an orchestra as living and active responding metaphor for a network, offers employees of medium to large organizations the possibility to work in an interactive way.
Johan Boonekamp is the conductor, who considers his orchestra as his network. He uses various techniques (in addition to his musical techniques) to achieve a predetermined goal with the help of his network, the orchestra.
Johann Wuestenberg as trainer and consultant of the Association for Organization Development (AOO) helps the participants to link their experiences during the workshop to their daily organization/work practice.
In addition to the network of the playing orchestra members there are also other networks in the orchestra. They also pay attention to this aspect is in the workshop in a playful way. Purpose of the workshop is to discover one own effectiveness in networking and to learn adopting a professional attitude during the networking.
Johan and Johann use effective improvisation methods. These methods allow the participants, as participants between the members of the orchestra, to experience the effect of their own behaviour, with the orchestra as central network. Also the 'conducting' of the orchestra by the participants is possible.
In addition to this workshop, two other workshops are developed: 'Creative leadership' and 'Conductor of your organization'.
